A free, confidential treatment referral line for mental health and substance use, run by the federal government.
SAMHSA's National Helpline is a referral service rather than a crisis line. It will find you local treatment facilities, support groups and community organisations, including options for people with no insurance.
That last point is the reason it matters: 'I cannot afford treatment' is one of the most common reasons people stop looking, and this line exists specifically to answer it.
