Rise From The Edge

Reasons for living

Build this on a day you can, so it exists on a day you cannot. That is the whole point of writing it down rather than trusting yourself to remember.

They do not have to be big, or noble, or the sort of thing you would say out loud. Nobody else has to understand them and nobody else is going to read them. "The dog" is a complete answer. So is "I want to know how the series ends."

What matters is that they are yours and specific. "My family" is easy to argue with at 3am. "Dad rings every Sunday at 6" is much harder.

If reading this back does nothing right now

That is normal and it does not mean the list is wrong or that you wrote it dishonestly. Suicidal thinking is very good at making everything on a list like this look thin. The list is not there to win an argument — it is there to be something to hold on to for another ten minutes.

If ten minutes is not enough, that is the point at which a person helps more than a page.
