Privacy
The short version: anything you write in the tools on this site stays on your device, and we cannot read it. The only things that reach us are the ones you deliberately send.
What you write here
Your safety plan, your worksheets, your mood entries and everything else you fill in on this site is stored by your own browser on your own device. It is never transmitted to us. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server-side copy.
This has a consequence worth being blunt about: it is not backed up. If you clear your browser data, use a different device, or browse privately, it will be gone. That is why the safety plan offers a print button and a backup file — please use one of them.
On a shared or monitored device
Because your plan is stored in the browser, someone else with access to that browser profile could in principle find it. If that is a risk for you, read using this site on a shared device, which explains how to switch to session-only storage that disappears when you close the tab.
Every page also has a Quick exit button. It leaves the site immediately and removes this page from your Back button. It deliberately does not delete your saved work — a panicked keypress should not destroy the plan you spent an evening writing.
The three things you can send us
Everything below is optional, and none of it happens unless you fill in a form and press a button. Nothing on this site collects anything from you in the background.
A message through the contact form
We store the message, and the name and email address if you chose to give them. You do not have to give either. It is stored so that somebody can read it and, if you asked a question, answer it.
A story you submit
This is the most sensitive thing anyone sends us, and it is treated that way. We store what you wrote, your email address, any note you left for the reviewer, and a record of which permissions you gave and which version of the consent text you were shown.
One person reads it. It is not shown to anyone else, it is not used to train anything, and it is never passed to a third party. The only email we send you is the one carrying your withdrawal link.
You can take it down at any time, without asking us. The link in your confirmation email withdraws it immediately, before or after publication, with no login and no reason required. If you lose the link, reply to that email from the same address and we will do it for you — you will not have to prove anything. A withdrawn story stops being served straight away, and the submission itself is deleted after the period in the table below.
An event or support group you submit
The listing itself is public — that is the point of submitting it. We also store the organiser name and email address you give, which are used only to ask about the listing. The email address is never shown on the site, and it is deleted once the event has passed.
We deliberately do not publish a precise address for any listing, only a town and country. That is the same decision the bereavement support groups we list make about their own venues.
How long we keep it
A deletion job applies these automatically. Nothing here depends on somebody remembering.

A story still waiting for a decision is never deleted on a timer, however long it has been waiting. Losing what you sent because we were slow would be our failure charged to you.
What we do not collect
- Nothing at all on the crisis pages. The /help-now section loads no analytics, no cookie banner and no third-party script of any kind.
- No analytics anywhere, at present. The site ships zero third-party JavaScript today. If that ever changes it will be announced here first, it will not run on the crisis pages, and it will ask before storing anything on your device.
- No advertising, no tracking pixels, no social embeds, no fingerprinting.
- Nothing stored offline unless you ask for it. A country page offers to keep its numbers on your device so they open with no signal. That only happens when you press the button, it never leaves your browser, and the same panel removes it. On a device someone else can get into, paper is the safer choice.
- No visitor IP addresses in any database. The forms are rate-limited to stop abuse, and that limit is held in memory for a few minutes and never written down — on a site like this one, a record of who visited and when is exactly the record not to keep.
- Standard server logs exist for the site as a whole, as they do for any web server, and are rotated in the ordinary way.
What we link to
When you tap a helpline's number or open their chat, you leave this site and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We send no information about you with that click — this site tells your browser not to pass on which page you came from, so a helpline's analytics never learns which of our pages you were reading.
We do not embed anyone's chat widget. That is deliberate: an embedded crisis chat would leak your visit to a third party on page load, and would fail silently when it did not load.
Cookies
Rise From The Edgesets no cookies of its own for visitors. Your country choice, your theme and your reduced-stimulation setting are stored in your browser's local storage, which is never transmitted with a request. The one cookie this site can set is the sign-in session for the person who reviews submissions, and only they ever receive it.
Asking us to delete something
For a story, use your withdrawal link — it is instant and needs nothing from us. For anything else, send a message saying what you would like removed. You do not have to explain why, and you do not have to prove who you are for something you sent us yourself.
