Crisis Text Line is text-only and deliberately so. It was built for people who will not or cannot make a phone call — and in practice that turns out to be an enormous number of people, particularly under 30.
Conversations are with trained volunteer crisis counselors supervised by clinicians. The aim of a conversation is to move you from a hot moment to a cool one, not to fix everything.
