Trans Lifeline

A peer support line run by and for trans people — and one of the very few that has committed publicly to never calling emergency services without your consent.

Visit their website →

Trans Lifeline is staffed entirely by trans and non-binary operators. It is peer support rather than clinical crisis intervention: the person answering has lived something close to what you are living.

It is best known for a policy that sets it apart from almost every other crisis line in the United States — it does not contact emergency services without the caller's explicit consent. For people who have previously been detained after a crisis call, or who have reason to fear a police response, that policy is the whole reason the line is usable at all.

Trans Lifeline peer support hotline

Peer support from trans operators, with no non-consensual emergency dispatch.

  • United States
  • Trans and non-binary people
  • LGBTQ+ people

People contact them about: thinking about suicide, who i am, nothing feels worth it, things are bad at home, racism and discrimination.

Is something here wrong?

A number that no longer works is the most serious thing that can go wrong on this site. If you have tried one of these and it did not connect, please tell us and we will check it the same day.

We are not affiliated with Trans Lifeline and we do not speak for them. This page describes their service as they publish it; their own site is always the authority.
