Men and women
The recorded rate for men in France is 3 times the rate for women. Across every country with both figures the median gap is 3.3 times, so France is close to the pattern seen almost everywhere. That men die this way more often than women, while women are more often recorded as attempting, is one of the most consistent findings in this field and one of the least understood.
