Shout
A free, 24/7 text service for anyone in crisis who would rather write than speak.

Shout is a text-only crisis service. You text a short code, a trained volunteer replies, and the whole conversation happens in writing.
It exists for the very large group of people for whom 'just call someone' is not usable advice — because they are autistic, or Deaf, or at work, or in a house where they can be overheard, or because distress has simply taken their voice.
The service is silent to use. Nothing rings, nothing announces itself.

Is something here wrong?
A number that no longer works is the most serious thing that can go wrong on this site. If you have tried one of these and it did not connect, please tell us and we will check it the same day.
We are not affiliated with Shout and we do not speak for them. This page describes their service as they publish it; their own site is always the authority.
