AASRA
India's long-running crisis intervention helpline, based in Mumbai and open to all of India.
AASRA has offered confidential emotional support since 1998, staffed by trained volunteers. It is a listening service rather than a clinical one, and does not ask for your name.
India also runs a government line, Tele-MANAS, on 14416 — we do not list it here because we have not been able to read its number from an official page we can reach, and this site does not publish a number it has not confirmed.

Is something here wrong?
A number that no longer works is the most serious thing that can go wrong on this site. If you have tried one of these and it did not connect, please tell us and we will check it the same day.
We are not affiliated with AASRA and we do not speak for them. This page describes their service as they publish it; their own site is always the authority.
